Buxton hockey firsts survive the bad weather to record victory

Buxton are back at home this Saturday.

Buxton’s first team edged a seven-goal thriller away at Berkswell & Balsall, as they recorded a 4-3 win.

Buxton came out flying and their swift accurate passes soon ensured they were in front.

Oritt’s effort was saved but he tucked away the rebound to open the scoring.

Steaming ahead, the Bucks soon doubled their lead through Sherlock on the reverse.

Berkswell fought back and claimed a goal before the half-time whistle.

Buxton then started the second half with confidence, but the hosts were soon level after a penalty decision went their way.

Buxton didn’t lose faith and Sherlock responded with a scorching effort to restore the lead.

However, once again the opposition equalised with scrappy goal to make it 3-3.

Amongst the green cards given to Oritt and Talbot, Ainscow was given his first card in his hockey career; a dubious yellow.

Despite being a man short, Buxton continued to attack and Hebditch notched the winning goal late on to secure the points for the visitors.

Man of Match: H Sherlock.
