BUXTON Hitmen tasted National League success for the first time this season in the second of a double header against Stoke Potters at the weekend.
After a disappointing 56-39 result at Stoke on the Saturday night, the Hitmen hit back to win 50-38 at High Edge on Sunday.
A delighted Hitmen team manager Jack Lee said: “I was really worried after our previous defeat against the Isle of Wight, and after a tough night at Loomer Road last night (Saturday) I thought we were in real trouble, but the lads had a chance to re-group and finally got down to business today (Sunday) and we got this fantastic win.
“It was an exciting meeting and hopefully the first of many successful wins for the Hitmen this season. Ryan Blacklock proved what a fantastic reserve he has turned into with a paid 11, and Robert Branford again was back on the gas.”
He added: “The lads still have some way to go, not all of our riders are getting in the points they should but hopefully this win will help spur them on.
“The team spirit is back, and now they have tasted success they won’t want it to end here.”
The Hitmen are next in action away at Scunthorpe in the National League on Monday June 4.
