YOUNG golfers from across the UK competed in a prestigious match at Chapel-en-le-Frith Golf Club recently.
The match, which finished in a draw, was between England Under-16 Boys and a North of England team captained by local golfer Jacob Bagshaw. Jacob, a member of Buxton & High Peak Golf Club, won two of his four matches.
Two other Derbyshire golfers featured in the match, Josh Thorley for the regions and Bradley Moore, of Kedleston Park, who played for England.
John Slater of Chapel Golf Club, who managed the Northern Region, said: “The Chapel course was indeed worthy of the match and all the players and officials were complimentary of Head Greenkeeper Simon Wathalls’ efforts to produce such fine greens so early on in the year.”
