Gamesley Bowling Club are completing a pre-season spring clean and launching a marketing campaign as they aim to get more local people onto the greens.
Club secretary John Hulston is hoping that the recent revamp and marketing ploy will help swell the club’s membership ahead of the summer months.
He said: “Because bowls is among the easiest of games to learn and you don’t need any fancy kit to do it, we can help get people playing as soon as they get through the gate.
“If you’re the competitive type we have men’s and women’s teams, but if that doesn’t float your boat you will still be able to get active and meet new people and you’ll also be contributing to sustaining a community asset.”
The club is currently staging a spring clean which has seen local tradesmen adding a lick of paint and doing some repairs, while work has also begun on designing a marketing campaign aiming to outline the community spirit at the heart of the club.
