BDO star Dean romps to knockout tourney win

ENGLISH darts player Dean Winstanley won a darts knockout competition held at the Kings Arms in Chapel-en-le-Frith recently.

With players coming from as far as Stockport and Doncaster, the event was a great success, with the standard of darts worthy of anything shown on TV.

After the opening first round, the remaining players picked up their game with Paul Bettney finishing just two darts away from a magical nine-dart finish.

The prize money for the highest finish was won by Nigel Daniels, with a finish of 170.

In two keenly-fought semi-finals, Winstanley beat G Scobbie and I Hannah beat P Bettney.

Winstanley started the stronger in the final and raced into a 3-0 lead. Hannah fought back to make it 3-2, before BDO world number three Winstanley wrapped up the game 5-2.

The organisers would like to thank everyone who turned up on the night, with special thanks going to event sponsors The Hanging Gate.
