BUXTON & District Athletic Club’s Rob White claimed his first county championship medal, finishing as the first Derbyshire runner in the Clowne Half Marathon. He finished sixth overall in a time of one hour, 20 minutes and 42 seconds.
Rob’s excellent running season culminated with him taking first place in their club championships, ahead of Roland Meylan and Mark Halsey.
In the female championships, Annemarie Claye took first position ahead of Sheila Bradley and Emma Wentworth. The two veteran champions were Ian Francis and Sarah Guise.
Several club members competed in the Conwy Half Marathon. Dan Feely led Buxton home in 135th, in one hour, 34 minutes and 20 seconds. Following him were Ian Francis (184th, 1:36:59), Simon Moorhouse (513th, 1:50:27), Hayley Errington (1051st, 2:16:32), Ann Roberts-Dinsley (1150th, 2:26:36). Completing his 12th half marathon in 12 months was Jarrod Roberts-Dinsley (1205th, 2:38:49).
Buxton fielded two runners in the Langley seven-mile road race. Mark Halsey finished in 59th place (51:04), while Roland Meylan was 138th (56:35).
Roland was in competition against his son Elliott at the Bramhall 5k series, and came second in their battle. Elliot knocked an impressive 20 seconds off his personal best, finishing in 22 minutes and one second, 38th in the race overall, while Roland finished in a time of 22:52 for 51st place.
