Buxton Athletic Club fielded the largest number of competitors in some time, at the latest North Staffordshire Cross Country league meeting at Parkhall, Stoke.
A total of 12 senior ladies and 16 senior men competed at the event and they returned home with impressive results.
The ladies’ ‘A’ team were led home by Rachel Chatwin in 13th position, followed by Jo Bednall (27th), Sheila Bradley (61st) and Emma Havenhand (69th).
Kate Ledin (73rd) was first finisher in the ‘B’ team, supported by Heather Fryer-Winder (96th), Sarah Guise (101st) and Jenny Johnson (104th).
The ‘C’ team consisted of Cris Milton (114th), Wendy Bainbridge (116th), Rachel Dowle (121st) and Angela Bent (123rd).
The men finished two teams: the ‘A’ team’s first finisher was Simon Coldrick in 17th place, followed by Rob White (19th), Ben Light (35th), Steve Watson (45th), Mark Pursell (51st) and Mark Quince (84th).
Ross Martland led the ‘B’ team home in 141st position, followed by Richard Bouglas (149th), Andy Lidstone (160th), Kevin Mottram (173rd), Pete Bailey (186th) and Stefan Ledin (191st).
Supporting them were Alfie Bailey (212th), Mark Babington (259th) and, making his debut at cross-country, Andrew Wearden (260th).
In the recent Roaches 15-mile fell race, Buxton were represented by a total of five runners.
First home from the club in a time of three hours, five minutes and 21 seconds was Jo Bednall.
She was followed by Richard Bouglas (3.09.35), Pete Bailey (3.14.29), Frank Golden (3.39.46) and Elizabeth Nocton (3.47.07).
The next Pavilion Gardens 5K will be held on Saturday December 6.
The free, monthly event starts at 9am at the Burlington Road end of Broad Walk.
