MMA club grabs 20 medals at British meeting

Students from Paul Roberts’ Modern Martial Arts recently attended the WTKA Best of British fighting Championships, which were held in Sheffield.

The club, based in Chapel-en-le-Frith, saw a host of members walk away from the event with medals, earning them the right to attend the WTKA Squad selections for the Unified World Championships in 2014.

In total, the team scooped 20 medals bringing the total for the year to 75 including accolades on the English, British and World stages.

Results: Rhys Roberts (Silver Points fighting, Silver team Points fighting, Silver sport sword, Bronze sport sword), Jacob Roberts (Gold Sport sword, Silver Points fighting, Silver team Points fighting), Matthew Powell (Silver Points fighting, Bronze Points fighting, Silver Team Points fighting), Taj Beckett (Silver Points fighting, bronze sport sword), Daniel Hull (Silver Points fighting, Bronze Light Continuous), Kimberley Graf (Silver Sport Sword, Silver Sport Sword), Yasmin Graf (Bronze Sport Sword), Helen Wardle (Silver Points fighting), Andrew Wardle (Bronze Sport Sword) and Dan Bailey (Bronze Points fighting).
