The 16-year old from Flagg, near Buxton, will be one third of the junior compound team for Great Britain.

Christine Oldroyd of Derwent Bowmen Archery Club based in Darley Dale, where Marsie is a member, said the decision was fully deserved.

She said: “We are delighted for Marsie and look forward to hearing good news from her when she shoots in China.

“Marsie has built on continued success this year.

“We feel she is a good choice for the team.”

The week-long tournament in the Far East will take place between October 13 and 20.

The call-up is the latest achievement by the youngster, who earlier this year received a special bursary from Derbyshire Dales District Council in recognition of her sporting talent.

A regular shooter for Derbyshire and East Midlands, in 2010 Marsie won the under-14 girls’ category at the National Junior Championships and in the process set a new national record and a personal best.

She is now hopeful of reaching next year’s Commonwealth Games, which are being staged in Glasgow.
