Aspiring young footballers are being offered the chance to build a career in the game with the formation of a new Buxton FC Football and Education Academy.
The club has partnered with Buxton and Leek College to provide teenagers aged 16 to 19 with professional football coaching and sports specific education.
And applications are invited via the college website, www.blc.ac.uk/courses/apply/applicationform, with trial days to be held during July and August at The Silverlands.
John Morrell, the college’s programme co-ordinator for sport, said: “Academy players will train during their college day with FA qualified coaches from Buxton FC while playing midweek football within a Midlands youth league.
“Their timetabled studies will be a Level 2 or 3 sports-related BTEC programme with a heavy focus on football.
“Players on the programme will not only have the potential playing opportunities within the club’s structure at under 19, under-21 or first team level, but they will also gain real-life learning within the club in a variety of roles vital to the football industry.”
