JOSEPH LISTER

Southwell 2.15 WIN

On what is a very ordinary day’s racing, I don’t mind admitting that I found it painfully hard to come up with a reliable selection of any kind! But I’ve landed on a handicapper seemingly primed to strike. During his career, this five-year-old son of Nayef has raced with credit for two of the leading trainers in the land -- John Gosden on the flat and Nicky Henderson over hurdles. He’s now been transferred to one of the country’s most progressive handlers, Charlie Longsdon, who is confident of extracting more improvement from him. On his first start for the Chipping Norton yard, at Fontwell last month, he finished a fine second to a horse who has since run well in graded company. He remains on a feasible mark and with stable jockey Noel Fehily booked to take over the reins today, it looks as if they mean business. Trip, track and ground will hold no fears for the horse.
