Horse-racing ‘Tip Of The Day’

As is so often the case through the winter, the best Sunday racing can be found in Ireland, where some top-class animals line up at Navan.

Sunday November 11

SIZING RIO

Navan 1.15 WIN

Under-rated trainer Henry De Bromhead has resisted the temptation to unleash his stable star, dual Cheltenham Festival winner Sizing Europe, for his seasonal bow at Navan today. But he has had no hesitation in bringing out one of his best up-and-coming youngsters again, three weeks after a flawless hurdling debut at Fairyhouse, where he travelled and jumped beautifully, eased past the odds-on favourite approaching the home straight and ran on strongly without turning a hair. The time of his win was fully ten seconds faster than that recorded by top-class prospect, Waaheb, in a better race half an hour later and marked him down as a serious horse to follow. Today’s contest represents a step-up to graded company, but his main rival appears to be Cops And Robbers, the horse he thrashed by 18 lengths last time.

TIP OF THE DAY IS SUPPLIED BY SCOOP RACING (RICHARD SILVERWOOD).
