Hayfield cricketer Matt Higginbottom has been released by Derbyshire CCC.
The pace bowler was informed of the club’s decision not to offer him a contract for next season.
The 23-year-old made six first-class appearances for the county since making his debut against New Zealand in 2013, claiming 14 wickets in total. He also featured in four Twenty20 fixtures and one List A match.
Elite Performance Director Graeme Welch said: “Matt’s opportunities in the team this season have been very limited, but he’s been very professional and continued to work hard throughout.
“Decisions to let players go are always tough. We wish Matt all the best for the future.”
Former New Mills School pupil Higginbottom began playing cricket as a junior for his local club Hayfield in the Derbyshire & Cheshire League, before rising through the Derbyshire ranks.
Higginbottom has represented Leeds/Bradford MCC University, and also plays for Chesterfield.
