Greg Young has become the latest member of the Buxton set-up to lavish praise on Ash Palmer.
Young speaks in glowing terms about his centre-half partner and is adamant that Palmer has the ability and skills required to flourish higher up the footballing pyramid.
However, Young is keen to insist that Palmer still has a lot to offer at the Silverlands.
The partnership the duo have struck up has resulted in Buxton sitting pretty in third place in the Evo-Stik Premier Division.
Young, 31, says he immediately felt as though he was alongside a talented player, from the moment he arrived at the club last summer.
He said: “As a partnership at centre-half, you have to have an understanding - and straight away me and Ash had that.
“It helps that we get on well together.
“He’s definitely got the ability to play higher, from what I’ve seen of him.
“I played with someone called Luke Waterfall at Gainsborough Trinity and he went on and got a move to Scunthorpe.
“He’s a similar type of character to Ash.
“I can’t see why Ash can’t get a move to a Conference Premier side, if not to a Football League side.
“It’s just the way he is and the way he plays the game, and how he applies himself.
“He’s a determined lad.
“He’s certainly got the right attributes and the determination to play higher.
“Having the manager and Tim here, as both former centre-halves, they allow you to express yourself and that makes a difference.
“It’s great to speak to them because they’ve been there and played so many games in the Football League, so you’d be mad not to learn from them.”
