Buxton’s under-19s were beaten 4-1 in the League Cup semi-finals by Sheffield, at the Silverlands last Thursday.
Mark Fereday opened the scoring for the visitors on 23 minutes after he pounced when a teammate’s effort came back off a post.
Buxton responded well however, and James Handley, who is currently involved with the senior Bucks side, fired home the leveller.
Buxton were given two glorious chances to take the lead early in the second half, but both Rob Potter and Handley skewed their efforts.
Sheffield then took advantage of these misses and turned the screw, with Max Pemberton making it 2-1 on 70 minutes.
Soon after Brad Bowland slammed home the third for Sheffield, before proceedings were well and truly wrapped up when Pemberton’s half-volley flew into the net to seal their final berth.
