Workington reward for FA Trophy progress

Glossop North End’s FA Trophy run will see them take on Workington AFC in the third qualifying round after a seven-goal thriller against Leek Town.

North End defeated Leek 4-3 in their second qualifying round on Saturday, having overcome Matlock Town 3-2 in a previous tie.

Their reward is another home tie, against Evostik Premier Division Workington, on Saturday, 25th November.

The two sides last met in the national competition in 1986, when North End edged a replay 1-0.

They met in a league fixture in April 1999 when Workington won 3-0 at Surrey Street.

North End’s scheduled Northern Premier League First Division North game at second-placed South Shields has been postponed.

Against Leek, Ben Deegan and Courtney Meppen-Walter netted in the second half to earn victory after the two sides were level at 2-2 at half-time.

In the first period, Zeph Thomas had given them an 11th-minute lead.
