BUXTON FC’S poor run in the Evo-Stik Premier Division continued on Saturday with a 3-1 defeat away at Rushall Olympic.
Goals from Jonathan Haynes and Luke Bottomer gave The Pics a 2-0 half-time lead. Josh Wilde gave the Bucks hope on 66 minutes, but Ahmed Obeng sealed the win 12 minutes from full time.
Twenty-four hours earlier, the Bucks had learnt of their reinstatement into the Derbyshire Senior Cup after Ilkeston were thrown out for fielding an ineligible player during their quarter-final meeting last week. Ilkeston had won the tie 3-1.
New Mills AFC’s Evo-Stik First Division South fixture at Sheffield FC was postponed, but Glossop North End’s game at Surrey Street against AFC Blackpool did go ahead and resulted in a 2-0 win for the Hillmen.
Goals from Daley Rothwell and Jay Gorton moved the Hillmen up to fourth place in the North West Counties League Premier Division.
