Buxton Christians 6, Dove Holes Reserves 1
Buxton Christians overcame a poor start to overwhelm Dove Holes Reserves and enhance their promotion chances.
Dove started the brighter and a flicked header from a corner gave them an early lead.
Christians equalised out of the blue after 20 minutes when the Dove keeper completely missed his kick and Sullivan pounced.
The hosts proceeded to dominate the remainder of the match. After a host of chances, Craig Owen hit a long cross which Green turned back across the six-yard box for Sullivan to make it 2-1 at the break.
After the break, Sullivan netted a brilliant goal from a tight angle to make it 3-1, and then the goalscorer turned provider, setting Craig Owen clear through the middle and he finished expertly to make it 4-1.
Sadler made a couple of smart stops, but it was the Christians who finished the stronger, with Sullivan scoring two more in the last five minutes to take his goal tally for the season to 40, as he outpaced and outwitted Dove’s tiring defence.
This was a great win for the Christians against a determined Dove outfit.
Leon Owen was named man of the match for a composed and classy display in central midfield.
