BUXTON FC’s new under-19 squad is starting to take shape, just weeks before the team’s first outing.
As many as 52 players have attended trials, from which a squad of 20 has been selected for the coming season. Bucks manager John Reed has been part of the process and intends to blood a few of these players in the High Peak Cup.
The under-19 team’s first outing will be in a four-club tournament at Rossington, near Doncaster, over the weekend of July 9 and 10.
Several more under-19 friendly fixtures have been arranged. On Friday August 19 (kick-off 7pm), Sheffield Wednesday provide the opposition at the Pursglove ground at Tideswell, with the same venue five days later (Wednesday August 24, kick-off 7pm) hosting a visit of Ilkeston FC.
On Tuesday August 30 (kick-off 7.30pm), the under-19s entertain Matlock Town at the Silverlands.
