NORMAL business resumed in the R&B Buxton Taverners League last weekend following a break for Derbyshire Cup action. Howard Arms and Great Rocks both had comfortable 7-0 wins, while Old Glossop Bulls progressed after a hard-fought 1-0 win.
Great Rocks returned to the league summit with a 4-1 win at home to Bulls Head. Two goals from Jack Whysall set-up the victory, with contributions from Richard Miriams and Jack Gregory. David Rowntree replied for the Bull.
Old Glossop Bulls maintained their challenge, consolidating second place. Ahead at half-time through a Lawton goal, Old Glossop went on to win 3-0 with a second strike from Lawton and a killer third goal from Carroll.
Athletico Rag returned to form with an away win at New Inn Town in a ten-goal thriller. Two from Gary Bramwell, two from Peter Richardson and single strikes from Oliver Wadsworth and Richard Carr took the points. New Inn refused to lie down though, with a brace from Matt Wildgoose and contributions from Lee Bentley and Dan Bradd keeping the game going to the final whistle.
Howard Arms visit Great Rocks at Peak Dale next Sunday.
