No tears shed as Buxton wave goodbye to Conference North loanee

Martin McIntosh says that Tom Corner is highly unlikely to return to the Silverlands after a forgettable loan spell.

Buxton boss McIntosh had tracked Corner for some time, going back to last season, and finally secured the 21-year-old’s signature on a temporary basis from North Ferriby United last month.

However, the striker’s form was up-and-down whilst with the Bucks and he scored just once, in a Doodson Sport tie at Prescot Cables.

“I would doubt that Tom Corner will be returning to us,” said McIntosh after the forward’s loan expired last weekend.

“I don’t think he was quite fit during his time here.

“I just think we never saw the best of him.

“He wasn’t at full fitness and as a result it was hard to judge him properly.

“I think he’ll go on and make an impression elsewhere, but maybe it wasn’t to be during his time here.”

Corner started his career with Grimsby Town before going on to play at Ossett Albion, Bradford Park Avenue, Barrow and even experience a spell in Spanish football with Racing Portuense.
