New Mills’ bid for survival boils down to six games that come in a 20-day period, starting with Easter Monday’s trip to Mossley.
The Millers are currently six points adrift of safety in Evo-Stik First Division North after last weekend’s 4-1 collapse to Burscough.
After weathering the early pressure, New Mills came more into the game and opened up the scoring.
In the 17th minute, following a Burscough attack, Ross Needham was able to run through and lob the ball into the net.
However, that was as good as it got for Roy Soule’s side as Burscough equalised through Wade Joyce on the half-hour mark.
Then in the second half the Millers were relatively secure for the first 25 minutes but Mark Beesley’s quickfire brace killed off all hopes before William Jones rubbed salt into the Millers’ wounds late on.
