LAST Saturday’s Evo-Stik Division One South fixture between New Mills AFC and Brigg Town was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
The Church Lane surface was perfectly playable on Friday but heavy overnight rain saw conditions deteriorate, and following a pitch inspection a local referee decided that the game couldn’t go ahead at around 10.30am on Saturday morning.
The Millers are on their travels twice this coming week. On Saturday afternoon, they go to The Lyme Valley Stadium in Staffordshire to face old North West Counties League rivals Newcastle Town (kick-off 3pm).
Then on Tuesday evening, the team face their second county cup quarter-final in successive weeks when they go to Gresley FC in the Derbyshire FA Senior Challenge Cup (kick-off 7.45pm). Extra time and penalties will be played if required.
New Mills Reserves will look to bounce back from last Saturday’s three-goal reversal against Glossop North End when they entertain Cheadle Town at Church Lane this Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
