New Mills AFC manager Roy Soule has issued a rallying call for the town to get behind his promotion-chasing side.

The Millers, who have played half of their league fixtures in the last two months alone, beat Radcliffe Borough 3-2 on Tuesday night to guarantee themselves a place in the Evo-Stik League First Division North end-of-season playoffs with four games in hand.

Boss Soule said: “There is no doubt the players appreciate the support. Home and away, the backing we receive is fantastic.

“I am now calling on the people of New Mills to get behind us and play their part as they can genuinely make the difference. We have two midweek home fixtures of the regular season remaining and I would urge the locals to come out in force.

“I understand that New Mills are already playing at their highest level in the non-league football pyramid so we are just a few wins away from taking the club to heights that nobody would have believed possible just a few years ago.”

Following Saturday’s trip to Clitheroe (kick-off 3pm), the Millers entertain Farsley at Church Lane on Monday April 29 and Radcliffe Borough two days later, on Wednesday May 1. Both midweek fixtures kick-off at 7.45pm.
