New Mills AFC’s new managerial team of Garry Brown, Paul Williams and Lee McGregor are fully aware of the huge task ahead of them after two weeks into

the role.

The trio, who managed Cheshire League side Wythenshawe Town last season to an impressive 39 game winning run, including four trophies, and received national recognition for their achievements now face one of the toughest jobs in football as they try to keep the Millers in the Evo Stick North league after recently replacing Andy Fearns.

After Saturday’s 4-0 home defeat to Trafford, Brown was in realistic mood.

“We have now lost 10 games in a row and have conceded 40 goals, so it’s clear where we have to improve,” he said.

“We are trying to bring in a few new faces and we have taken on a fitness coach as the level of fitness across the squad is currently not acceptable. I am confident we will improve.”

Williams, an ex Stockport County player added: “We knew the job when we joined and we are not quitters.

“We are effectively trying to do a pre-season whilst the games are coming thick and fast, which is not ideal, but the attitude of the players has been fantastic as has the feedback from the fans, so we are optimistic that we are slowly moving in the right direction.”

The Millers are at home on Saturday 10th October against Clitheroe, which is national Non League Day.

The club is hoping to run a promotion to support this and fans are urged to visit nearer game day.
