Droylsden coasted to an easy 4-1 victory over New Mills at the Butcher’s Arms.

The home side took the lead in the fifth minute following Mike Korals close range shot.

Ryan Hopper netted an equaliser in the 10th minute when Brandon Windsor’s good work resulted in a low cross/pass to Hopper whose shot could only be palmed into the goal by Droylsden keeper Craig Ellison.

However, the Millers offered little threat in attack for much of the game and Mike Pino restored Droylsden’s lead after 40 minutes when he wasn’t picked up by the defenders and was able to unleash a 25 yard shot, which was curling away from Liam Higginbotham all the way into the left side of the goal.

Joe Cooper extended the lead on 55 minutes with the Millers’ defence waiting motionless for a non-existent offside decision until Higginbotham decided to take action and block the shot only for Cooper to knock home the rebound.

Steve Hall rounded off the scoring in stoppage time following a good run by Saul Henderson, which saw him ghosted effortlessly past at least three New Mills defenders.

He laid off a short pass to Hall who was unmarked inside the area and who had the simple task of knocking the ball home to complete a miserable afternoon for New Mills.
