A COMBINATION of absent and cup-tied players is set to leave new Buxton FC manager Martin McIntosh with a selection headache for tonight’s (Wednesday) Derbyshire Senior Cup semi-final against fellow strugglers Mickleover Sports.
The boss will take charge of the Bucks for the first time at the Silverlands (kick-off 7.45pm), as last season’s beaten finalists eye a second successive county cup final appearance.
Speaking earlier today, McIntosh said: “We are very much down to the bare bones, so I expect some under-19 players will have to feature.”
And while he insists he fights for a win in every game, he admits league survival this season is the top priority.
“I am sure all of the fans would take being in the Evo-Stik Premier Division next year over being in a cup final,” McIntosh added.
Buxton were reinstated into the competition after their quarter-final victors Ilkeston FC fielded an ineligible player.
Entry on the gate to tonight’s semi-final will be at the special price of £6 for adults and £3 for concessions.
