Nantwich next up as McIntosh seeks consistency

Buxton manager Martin McIntosh says his side’s previous two outings are an example of just how unpredictable the league is this year.

The Bucks went to league leaders Fylde last weekend and were unlucky to come away with just a point, having led twice.

Then on Tuesday they travelled to lowly Stamford, who ended the Bucks’ unbeaten away record after grabbing a late winner.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s visit of Nantwich Town, McIntosh said: “Every game is tough in this division because on their day each team is capable of beating anybody.

“It’s the tightest it’s ever been since I’ve been managing in it.

“One win can jump you up five or six places.

“There’s so many teams around each other at the minute.”

Nantwich head to the Silverlands in 17th position, four points worse off than Buxton and McIntosh is predicting another difficult assignment for his players.

He said: “They’ve got a good set-up at Nantwich but they’ve not had the best of starts.

“It’s just about getting consistency together for us.”

The Stamford game saw Leon Osborne dismissed after a straight red card, meaning he will miss three matches later this month.

On Saturday, Jack Broadhead serves his one-match ban after being sent off in the recent FA Cup game against North Ferriby.

Newly-appointed player-assistant manager Tim Ryan will fill the void at centre-half, alongside Ash Palmer.

Elsewhere in defence, youngster Charlie Johnson will continue deputising at left-back for Jamie Green, who is still suffering the after-effects of concussion which he sustained during the recent meeting with Worksop.

McIntosh added: “Jamie’s gone back to hospital since the incident with memory loss, so it’s (injury) not something we can put a timescale on to be honest.

“Charlie’s come in and to say he’s only 19, he’s done really well.”
