New Mills have announced plans for a special benefit day, to be staged next month, to raise funds for injured assistant manager Paul Armstrong.
Armstrong sustained a compound fracture of his leg during the Manchester FA Premier Cup tie against Irlam in December.
A club statement said: “As expected from such a serious injury, recovery has been slow but the encouraging news is that Paul is visiting hospital at the end of the month and is hoping to be given the all clear by the medics to have the cast removed.
“Unfortunately Paul has been unable to work since the incident and as a result, first team striker James Hampson and Avro FC’s Rob Fuller have organised the benefit day.”
The event, which will comprise of a charity auction, raffle and a four-team football tournament, will take place on Sunday, February 9 at the Lancaster Club in Failsworth.
