Millers end season in style

Vodkat Premier Division

New Mills 3, Silsden 0

NEW MILLS concluded their successful Vodkat League Premier Division campaign with a comfortable three-goal victory against Silsden at a wind-swept Church Lane on Saturday.

A goal by Harry Noon after only eight minutes, followed by a Carlos Meakin brace, saw the Millers end the season in style, in front of a crowd of 203 at Church Lane.

New Mills finish the season on 102 points, 11 clear of second-placed Ramsbottom United, having lost only four games all season and scoring 102 goals in the process.

* High Peak rivals Glossop North End conceded an 89th-minute equaliser during a 2-2 draw in their final league game of the season at Squires Gate, after Sam Hind and Darren Hamilton had twice given the Hillmen the lead.

* New Mills and Glossop face each other at Surrey Street today (Monday) in the quarter-finals of the Vodkat League Challenge Cup (kick-off 3pm). The winner will host either Wigan Robin Park or Runcorn Town in the semi-finals.
