The 18-year old joined from Chesterfield on an initial four-week loan deal on the opening day of the season.

After putting in impressive performances alongside both Tim Ryan and Ash Palmer, Broadhead then suffered a setback with an ankle injury.

However, he told the Advertiser that he would welcome prolonging his stay with Martin McIntosh’s side, once he returns from injury.

He said: “We’ll have to see what happens but I’d like to stay.

“To be honest I don’t think I’m going to get much time at Chesterfield this season as they’re pushing for promotion and it’s hard for someone my age to push through to the first-team when it’s like that.

“I get on well with all the lads and they’re a good bunch of winners.”

Broadhead insists the presence of fellow centre-backs Ryan and Palmer is a welcome addition and that he sees qualities in both players.

He added: “Tim is quality. He’s talking to me all the time, giving me advice.

“Towards the end of games he’s quick to advise me and telling me to concentrate.

“It’s great to have that added experience, which he obviously brings.

“Ash is quality too. To be honest when I first came I was quite shocked Ash is not at a Football League club.

“He’s a big lad, he’s quick, strong and a really good defender.”

Broadhead’s progression is being closely monitored by his parent club and he says the feedback he has received so far has been positive.

He added: “The management at Chesterfield said they’ve been happy with me. That’s all you can ask for really, so I’m pleased.”
