Late scare, but Buxton hold on to beat Whitby
Despite a late scare, Buxton saw off struggling Whitby Town 3-2 at a wet Silverlands this afternoon.
After heavy rain, the pitch had to pass an inspection for the game to go ahead, but when it did the home side raced into a 3-0 lead.
Brad Barraclough put them 1-0 up after eight minutes, Spencer Harris added a second on the half-hour and Nicky Walker a third on 69 minutes.
But Whitby pulled one back through Michael Roberts eight minutes from time and Callum Martin had home alarm bells ringing when he made it 3-2 with three minutes to go.
A crowd of 232 watched the game.
