Whaley Bridge 8

Furness Vale 0

Furness Vale offered little resistance to an impressive Whaley Bridge team in this one-sided Hope Valley Premier League fixture.

Whaley went ahead after two minutes when Bill Sutton volleyed home a Matt Brown corner.

Minutes later, Sutton played a superb through ball and Rob Newton lobbed the advancing keeper.

Whaley were soon 3-0 up when Matt Brown’s free-kick deceived the Furness keeper.

Newton grabbed his second with a skilful piece of play after Brown had picked him out in the penalty area.

Even when awarded a penalty, Furness couldn’t take advantage and the kick went wide.

Ray Dwolitka capitalised on a mistake by the Furness keeper, then scored another after a superb solo run.

Just before half-time, Sutton headed in Whaley’s seventh goal.

Whaley were restricted to one goal in the second half but it was the pick of the day.

From a tight angle, Dwolitka lofted the ball over both his marker and the keeper.

Furness did eventually test James Tattersall in Whaley’s goal but he responded with an outstanding one-handed save.

So far, Whaley have won all eight home league games, scoring 41 and conceding only one.

For his hat-trick, Whaley’s man of the match was Ray Dwolitka.
