ALL THREE High Peak non-league sides are in Bank Holiday Monday action this afternoon.
Buxton FC host neighbours Matlock Town at the Silverlands, having opened up a three-point gap between themselves and the bottom-four in the Evo-Stik Premier Division following Saturday’s 2-1 win over FC United of Manchester.
Matthew Wolfenden had given the Red Rebels the lead after just six minutes, in front of a crowd of over 2,200 at Gigg Lane.
But the Bucks hit back from the penalty spot through Mark Reed in the 21st minute, before Bradley Barraclough netted the winner 17 minutes from full-time.
New Mills AFC travel to Leek Town, knowing a win is vital to keep alive their hopes of reaching the Evo-Stik Division One South playoffs.
The Millers beat Coalville Town 4-2 at Church Lane on Saturday to keep up the pressure on the teams above them.
The sides traded goals in the early stages, Dave Chadwick and Jordan Edridge for the Millers and Ryan Robbins and Cameron Powell replying for Coalville.
But goals either side of half-time, by Leon Grandison and Ben Deegan, secured the points for New Mills.
Following Saturday’s 3-0 win over St Helens Town, Glossop North End visit Maine Road in the North West Counties League Premier Division.
A Dean McGregor first-half double, followed by an Adam Oakes penalty after the break, gave the Hillmen all three points against St Helens at Surrey Street.
The Bank Holiday Monday fixtures kick-off at 3pm.
