Football: Four dismissals lead to abandonment

Whaley Bridge were 2-0 up at Garswood United last week before the match was abandoned due to ill-discipline.

Referee Robert Darfi brought the game to a premature end after the hosts saw four players sent off.

Second-half goals from Matt Brown and Bill Sutton had put Whaley into a commanding lead.

Matty Gregory was dismissed for the hosts after half an hour for a petulant kick out at Dwolitka.

The second half was only 20 minutes old when Garswood were reduced to nine men for a blatant trip.

Nine then became eight when the home side’s goalkeeper saw two quick yellows for dissent.

With the game drawing to a close, Garswood’s stand-in goalkeeper tripped Dwolitka in the box leading to his dismissal. The referee was then forced to abandon the match, after the penalty was scored, before its scheduled completion.
