Fixture washout

THE High Peak’s football fixture programme fell victim to more weather-related disruption on Saturday.

Virtually all local matches suffered as a result of days of heavy rain, heaping more pressure onto clubs’ already congested fixture lists.

Buxton FC’s clash at the Silverlands against Ashton United in the Evo-Stik Premier Division, plus New Mills AFC’s home game against Stone Dominoes and Glossop North End’s trip to Ramsbottom United in the Vodkat Premier Division, were all postponed as a result of waterlogged pitches.

Only five games went ahead in the Hope Valley Football League, while the Derbyshire Divisional Cup semi-finals between Buxton Town and Glossop North End Reserves, and Whaley Bridge v Chapel Town, were also called off. They will now take place on Saturday February 12 (kick-off 1.15pm).

RESULTS: Saturday February 5: Hope Valley League: Premier Division: Brampton 5, Dronfield Woodhouse 2; Totley Sports 2, Dronfield Town A 2. B Division: Bamford 1, Calver 3; Stoney Middleton 0, Red Lion 4; Youlgrave Utd 2, Eyam 2.
