A major milestone in the new hybrid sport of footgolf is reached in Buxton on Sunday.
For the first-ever footgolf open takes place at Cavendish Golf Course in the town.
Backed by Chris Hill Community Sports, the open will take the format of an adult and child pairs tournament, otherwise known as foursomes, whereby each players takes alternate shots.
Organiser Chris Hill says: “This is a really exciting project for us. Footgolf is such a fun game, and the course is fantastic.
“We are hoping for a real family-fun feel to the day, with dads, mums, sons and daughters all making up teams.”
Footgolf is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. It is played in the same way as golf, except that players use a football instead of a golf ball and kick it rather than strike it with a club, working towards a 21-inch cup in place of the usual golf hole.
Sunday’s open starts at 3.30 pm, with pairs going out every ten minutes. To enter, simply turn up or ring Chris on 07970 634994 to book your tee time.
