BUXTON Football Club will be looking to return to winning ways on Saturday when they face a tough trip to promotion-chasing FC United of Manchester at Gigg Lane (kick-off 3pm).
Despite last weekend’s 3-1 defeat to Bradford Park Avenue, Martin McIntosh’s resurgent side stayed out of the bottom four in the Evo-Stik Premier Division.
Saturday’s opponents, The Red Rebels, have won four and drawn one of their last five matches as they bid for a place in the end-of-season playoffs.
Earlier this season, FC United emphatically beat John Reed’s Buxton 4-0 for their first victory at the Silverlands in three years.
But the Bucks won the teams’ last meeting at Gigg Lane 2-1 last season, courtesy of late goals from Gregg Anderson and Mark Reed.
Buxton conclude their Easter programme on Bank Holiday Monday by hosting neighbours Matlock Town at the Silverlands (kick-off 3pm).
The Gladiators, who currently sit mid-table, are winless in their last three matches, following defeats to Worksop Town and Chester FC, and a 1-1 draw at Chasetown.
Buxton and Matlock met in the league earlier this season at Causeway Lane, the match finishing in a 1-1 draw.
Following these two fixtures, the Bucks will have just four games left to secure their Premier Division status, including Wednesday’s postponed home clash with Stafford Rangers which fell foul of the wintry weather. This game will now be played on Wednesday April 11 (kick-off 7.45pm).
