Comfortable away victory

Vodkat Premier Division

Alsager Town 0

New Mills 3

New Mills returned to the top of the Vodkat Premier Division last Tuesday (March 1) with a comfortable win at Alsager Town.

The Millers dominated possession, and went ahead just after the half hour. A well-worked move down the right saw Chris Hirst and Carlos Meakin interchange passes and when the ball fell into the former’s path, he neatly slotted the ball under keeper Anthony Intahar.

Alsager conceded a second in first half stoppage time.

Full back Mike Bowler’s shot from outside the penalty area was certainly on target and he was officially credited with the strike after the game but the last touch was off Town midfielder Callum Westray who in his attempts to block the ball could only divert it out of Intahar’s reach and into the corner of the net.

Daniel Douglas-Pringle had two goals ruled out for offside, before Leon Grandison’s pace enabled him to nick the ball away from Intahar to register his 16th goal of the season.

New Mills: Procter, Bowler, Horrocks, Hirst (K Grandison), Coyne, Swirad, Meakin, Innes (Holmes), L Grandison, Douglas-Pringle (Monaghan), Mather.
