Buxton Town got the new Hope Valley League season off to a winning start with a solid 2-0 win against Dronfield Woodhouse, who suffered relegation from the Premier Division at the end of last season.
The game was very one-sided as Town took control from the off. The Town defence was solid with Jake Hobson in particular having a very good game.
After dominating the first half Town were confident in the second period and in the 54th minute another good run from Prince saw him upended in the box resulting in a penalty and Stone stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way to give Town the lead.
Parker then doubled the lead for Town when Matt Stanway sent Prince down the right with a great pass and Prince squared the ball into Parker’s path and he cut inside to fire into the net.
Stone should have added his second of the game when he beat the offside trap but as he rounded the keeper the referees whistle from the pitch next to Town was blown and Stone stopped thinking he had been pulled up for offside.
Ryan Byrne was then denied a goal when he wheeled away in delight only to see a flag raised for offside.
It was a great start to the season for Town who face a tricky opening month.
