The promotion-chasing Bucks are yet to be given a clear date as to when the new season will kick off.

Rumours were rife last week that September 1st would signal a return to action, with clubs, leagues and the FA currently working together to put plans in place.

But Hayward admitted the club were still in the dark.

“We have heard rumours about September, but it is changing every day - we have not had a positive start date as yet,” he said.

“We don’t really know what is happening, it is just a case of waiting for the government.”

But Buxton will return to training on 2nd July with a gradual reintroduction to football under new restrictions.

“Social distancing and that sort of thing will play a part in our training,” added Hayward. “We will slowly start doing bits and bobs.

“We are just going to slowly tick it over and get the new lads integrated with the old lads and things like that.

“We will be taking players' temperatures and doing checks like that.

“If everything is ok we will start having 11 v 11 games in the squad behind closed doors so we can start building up match sharpness.

“I have my quota of players, but we may add a couple more players before we start pre-season training.”
