Buxton hold their own against in-form Chester

HIGH-FLYING Chester were grounded by a strong team performance from Buxton when they visited the Silverlands on Wednesday night.

A Steve Ridley penalty miss midway through the first half looked as if it was going to be punished dearly when Michael Powell put the visitors in front.

Things appeared to go from bad to worse when right on the stroke of half time the visitors again had the ball in the back of the net but this time the effort was ruled out for offside.

Josh Wilde levelled on 55 minutes with a sweetly struck effort from about 18 yards out. It was the first goal conceded by the Chester team in over 750 minutes of football.

Both teams were fully committed to getting a winner but had to settle for a share of the spoils. The match finished 1-1.
