BUXTON manager John Reed is hoping his side will be rewarded with a plum tie against the likes of FC United of Manchester or Chester FC in the next round of the FA Carlsberg Trophy.

The Bucks ensured their place in today’s draw for the Second Qualifying Round of the FA competition, and pocketed £2,200 in prize money, after seeing off ten-man Garforth Town at the Silverlands on Saturday.

Goals from Kieran Lugsden (2), Sam Liversidge and Mark Reed secured a 4-2 win, with Dempsey Smith and Matt Dempsey replying for the visitors, who had Darren Kelly sent off in the second half.

Buxton manager John Reed said: “I’m really looking forward to the draw. If I’m being honest and greedy and thinking of the club, I hope we get Chester or FC United.

“We’ll get a massive crowd and it’ll be a massive pay day, because we all know the situation at the football club, and any extra finance we can get in would be brilliant.”

Chester beat Ashton United 2-1 in the competition on Saturday, while FC United were 4-0 winners over Frickley Athletic.

The draw for the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy is expected to be made at around lunchtime today (Monday), with the ties scheduled to be played on Saturday November 5.
