Chesterfield eased to victory for the second night in a row with a 4-0 win at Buxton.
After seeing off Matlock 3-0 Spireites went one better at Buxton with goals from Dan Jones, Jay O’Shea, Jake Orrell and Mani Dieseruvwe.
Dean Saunders selected a strong first half eleven that featured Sam Morsy playing in a holding role behind three mobile and attacking midfielders.
Former Miller Martin McIntosh saw his side battle well from the off, though the visitors soon began to get into their stride with Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Dan Gardner going close before both were denied by a fine double save from Phil Barnes, the ex Miller & Blade keeper.
Buxton forced a decent save from Chesterfield’s triallist keeper before Morsy and O’Shea went close ahead of Jones’ goal, a low drive from the left of the box that Barnes saw squirm beyond him after his initial intervention.
More close calls for a now dominant Spireites outfit were followed by O’Shea hitting home from 15 yards and as half time approached Barnes made a good stop to keep a Tendayi Darikwa rocket out.
With just over a minute of the second half played, Armand Gnanduillet fed 17 year old Orrell who finished in style. Dieseruvwe had a header cleared off the line but he did convert on the hour mark with a low shot from the edge of the box.
Gnanduillet and Byron Harrison put decent efforts across the face of goal, Ollie Banks hit a long ranger just wide, Rai Simons drew a fine save from Banks as did youth teamer George Milner as the less experience Spireites eleven looked hungry for more goals but they just couldn’t add to the score.
