Ewan Catt is being watched by Stoke City following a recent trial, while Kyle Campbell is in the frame at Sheffield Wednesday after a successful trial.

David Hopkins, chairman of Buxton Football Club, said: “Kyle and Ewan’s selection for trials at two high profile Championship clubs is another example of the standards the Buxton FC Academy footballers are attaining, underlining the pathway opportunities that being part of the programme can open up.

“We are very proud of both boys and wish them every success.”

The players have now signed first team registration forms with the Bucks.

The academy is run in partnership with Buxton & Leek College

Carl Vickers, a sport lecturer at the college said: “This is a fantastic achievement for both Ewan and Kyle and a step in the right direction towards them achieving their footballing ambition.”

For those interested in playing competitive football at an elite level, the DCCT Football Academy pathway offers 20 players the opportunity to compete in an elite league against teams such as Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and Leicester City.

Students benefit from an additional 8 hours of football training each week.

As part of the programme at Buxton FC, students are selected to train and potentially begin integration into the first team.
