Buxton FC felt the full force of Derby County’s Theo Robinson on Saturday, as the striker hit a hat-trick in the friendly clash at the Silverlands.
Martin McIntosh’s side came up against a Rams team filled with a clutch of youngsters and also players available for transfer from Pride Park.
Amongst those was Robinson and the former Huddersfield Town hitman took just ten minutes to notch his first of the day.
Michael Jacobs whipped a free-kick into the Bucks box and Robinson headed past trialist Andy Warrington.
Soon after, Nathan Tyson picked out Robinson who tapped home for his and Derby’s second.
Buxton responded in good fashion just minutes later when debutant Derek Niven slotted home from a near-post set-piece.
But any hopes of a Bucks comeback were then dashed when Robinson then turned provided with a clever pull-back for Jacobs to slot home the third goal.
Buxton were given a golden chance to pull another goal back 15 minutes from time but Mark Reed’s penalty kick was palmed away by goalkeeper Saul Deeney.
That miss was then punished moments later when Robinson wrapped up his hat-trick to seal the win for Derby.
