More than 700 spectators saw Buxton FC kick off life on the 4G playing surface at Silverlands with a win on Bank Holiday Monday.
The Bucks picked off Hyde United for their first win of the 2018/19 Evo-Stik League Premier Division season, with Liam Hardy bagging the only goal.
Joint-Buxton boss Paul Phillips was pleased to see the team win for the many who worked on the project and witnessed a positive start to life on 4G.
He hopes the result and the performance will encourage the large crowd to return in the not-too-distant future.
“That was one thing we mentioned to the lads, a lot of people had come out to see them play on the day, let’s not give them an excuse not to come back.
“I think everyone was happy with the performance and everyone was happy with the result so hopefully we can keep attracting good crowds.
“We can only do that by giving them something to watch and something to shout about and hopefully we can do that,” said Phillips. Read more from the Buxton joint-boss on page 47.
