At first glance, Shaun Tuton and Jamie Vardy may not have too much in common.
After all, one is plying their trade in the Barclays Premier League, whilst the other plays in the Northern Premier League.
However, Tuton possesses all the qualities that have seen Vardy make a quickfire rise to the top of the English game.
Vardy, now aged 27, started out at Stocksbridge Park Steels before earning a move to FC Halifax.
He then ironically made his debut (and a goalscoring one at that) against Buxton in a 2-1 win in 2010.
Plenty of plaudits and goals followed before a move to Premier League-bound Leicester, via a stop at Fleetwood Town.
Having watched Vardy during his goal-laden days at FC Halifax, there are striking similarities between him and Tuton.
Both have raw pace.
Both have the ability to turn a game on its head.
And crucially, both can find the net.
Tuton obviously has a long way to go if he is to replicate his fellow Sheffielder’s achievements, but there is five years age gap between the two.
Tuton has certainly made an excellent start to this season.
He already has eight goals to his name and has quickly become a fans’ favourite at the Silverlands for his passionate and entertaining style of play.
Who knows, if he gets the breaks and his career follows a similar trajectory then he may one day be competing in the higher echelons of the Football League.
For the time being though, Bucks fans will just be happy he is a part of their side.
