Douglas is raring to go after signing for Hitmen

BUXTON Speedway have just one place left to fill after 18-year old Kieran Douglas became the Hitmen's sixth signing for the 2018 campaign.

Douglas, who broke his back at Buxton two years ago, is now fully fit and said he was raring to go.

“I’m delighted to be riding for Buxton this year,” he said.

“It’s a fresh challenge for me and there is a nice blend in the team with myself and Lewis Whitmore, who I know from riding in the under-16s a few years back, and riders such as Ben Wilson and Connor Coles at the top end of the team.

“On a personal note, I want to score points on every track, add to my average and contribute in every meeting.”

Buxton team manager Josh Moss, speaking after completing the signing of Douglas, said: “Kieran is a rider who has had some injury troubles over the past couple of seasons.

“But when speaking with him and his father, we established he was 100% fit.

“We are delighted that he is coming to Buxton this season.

“Kieran has ridden at Hi-Edge raceway before, in the Midlands Development League.

“He caught my eye before he had the nasty crash.

“When I saw that he was looking for a team place, I knew he would be an excellent asset to our team.

“He is young with a supportive family and has talent on a speedway bike.

“Our supporters will see why he has been brought into our team.”

Moss said he hoped both Whitmore and Douglas would get better throughout the 2018 season.

“We have two young reserves who have absolutely no pressure (being put) on them from the club,” added Moss.

“We just want them to go out and enjoy their racing and improve throughout the season.

“Hopefully both Kieran and Lewis will be racing away to the chequered flag in heat two for us.”
