A superb unbeaten 141-run partnership between Jake Reynolds (83 not out) and Jamie Pollard (54 not out) was the highlight of Disley 1st XI’s winning-draw at Alderley Park in the Meller Braggins Cheshire Cricket League.
A lively surface had seen Disley reduced to 43-6 but they recovered to post 184-6. Sadly, despite the efforts of James Banner (3-35), Alderley Park were able to hold out for a draw at 127-7.
The reverse fixture between the 2nd XIs was abandoned after heavy showers.
In the Cheshire County Junior Cricket League, the under-15s enjoyed a well-deserved bye week while the under-13s scored a tight victory at Congleton.
Fine bowling from Kyle Clapperton (3-11) and two wickets apiece for Aaron Fairfax and Jonty Coombes kept the hosts to 99-8.
Disley’s reply started poorly, losing three quick wickets, but captain Ned Barlow (30 not out) again retired before the lower order chipped in and Aaron Fairfax struck the winning runs.
